Incorporated into existence in 1963, our first site was built in South Dartmouth, Sol-E-Mar, and occupied in 1967. Forty-four units of state elderly housing marked the beginning of what has expanded to include a second site being built in North Dartmouth in 1980. Munroe Terrace has eighty single bedroom apartments, eight of which are handicapped accessible.
Through the years, the Dartmouth Housing Authority acquired a Section 8 program which enables us to help 197 families and individuals find safe and affordable housing by means of Housing Choice and Preservation Vouchers.
In October of 2016, the Housing Authority, in partnership with its non-profit, Partners in Housing, LLC., completed an 8 year long project of rehabbing and adding to the former State Police barracks at 262 State Rd. We have created 9 efficiency units of low-income housing for Veterans.
The staff at the Authority is comprised of the Executive Director, Connie Desbiens, Section 8 Co-ordinator, Shelly Taffe, Section 8 Clerk, Carol Lafleur, and Tenant Selection Clerk, Kerrie Bosse. Michael Domingos, Ryan Arruda and Frank Rivera are the maintenance men responsible for keeping our sites in such good condition.
On site, at Munroe Terrace, we are lucky to host the Supportive Living Program. Dianne Mendes, Coordinator, hosts a myriad of activities on a monthly basis. Check out the monthly calendar to see what is scheduled and please come!

In the meantime, please feel free to contact the office for the proper procedure for requesting any Public Record.
